Abstract:
The present invention provides: a bone metabolic cell modulator including at least one polypeptide selected from the group consisting of Chromosome 4 Open Reading Frame 48 (C4orf48), C4orf48 variants having at least one among the ability to inhibit bone resorption by osteoclasts and the ability to promote osteogenesis by osteoblasts, and C4orf48 derivatives having at least one among the ability to inhibit bone resorption by osteoclasts and the ability to promote osteogenesis by osteoblasts, or a nucleic acid encoding the polypeptide; and a pharmaceutical composition for treating or preventing a disease or condition, such as osteoporosis, through which an increase in bone is anticipated.
