Description:
BOOK CLAMP

Technical Field

The present invention relates to a device for holding together one side of an open book.

Background of the Invention

People with different degrees of disability such as severe tremors, loss of limbs or fingers, arm, etc., often have major problems with turning a page, holding and reading from a book or magazine. There is an urgent need for simple tools that can make life easier for many who are in the above situation.

Summary of the Invention

The present invention provides a simple means for holding together the pages of a book or magazine. The device consists of three plates. Two of the plates are bonded together to each other by means of spacers to ensure that the two plates are fastened at a given distance from each other so that there is space for a corner of a book there between. One of these plates has a hole or slot to place a finger. The third plate is fitted between the two other plates so that it can move between said other plates so as to vary the distance between the intermediate plate and the other two plates. The intermediate plate and the plate without a hole / slit are both provided with a flat magnet so that the intermediate plate and the plate without holes being squeezed from each other, i.e. the side of the magnets facing each other have the same polarity. Brief Description of the Drawings

Figure 1 shows an isometric drawing of the apparatus of the invention.

Figure 2 shows the method for using the apparatus shown in Fig. 1.

Figures 3 and 4 illustrate a prototype apparatus.

Detailed Description of the Drawings

The device that can be used to press together the pages in a book or a magazine at said book or magazines one corner are shown in Figure 1. The device consists of three plates (1, 2 and 3). Two of the plates (1, 2) are fastened to each other by means of spacers (6) who ensure that the two plates are fastened a given distance apart. One of these plates (1) has a hole or slot to accommodate a finger. The third plate (3) is mounted between the two second plates (1,2) so that it can move between said second plates so as to vary the distance between the intermediate plate (3) and the other two. The intermediate plate and the plate (2) without a hole are both equipped with a flat magnet (4.5) so that the intermediate plate and the plate without holes are pushed away from each other, i.e. the side of the magnets facing each other have the same polarity.
