A bookbinding apparatus is provided with: a sheet conveyance pathway for conveying sheets that have been processed in an image-forming apparatus; a hole-opening unit for opening multiple holes in a row at an edge of the sheets being conveyed in the sheet conveyance pathway; a sheet-aligning unit for stacking and aligning multiple sheets in which holes have been opened by the hole-opening unit; a binding mechanism for binding the sheets that have been aligned in the sheet-aligning unit by rotating a binding part in the circumferential direction while conveying said binding part in the axial direction; a binding part-storing unit for storing multiple binding parts; a binding part conveyance pathway for conveying a binding part supplied from the binding part-storing unit to the binding mechanism; and a booklet-discharging unit for discharging booklets that have been bound with a binding part. For the binding part conveyance pathway, a curved conveyance pathway for conveying a binding part, which is curved in the axial direction, is configured at a position that is closer than the length of a binding part for a single book to the end of the edge of the sheets, which have been aligned in the sheet-aligning unit, where the binding mechanism begins insertion of the binding part.
