Abstract:
A booklet reading device (1) is provided with a mounting surface (5) on which a page to be read (9) of a passport (7) is disposed, a camera (13) which captures an image of the page to be read (9), an illumination light source (15) which applies illumination light that is reflected by the page to be read (9), and an ultraviolet light source (41) which applies ultraviolet light that excites a fluorescent material on the page to be read (9). The illumination light source (15) applies the illumination light in the direction crossing a first edge portion (73) that is perpendicular to a binding portion (71) of the page to be read (9) at a position corresponding to the first edge portion (73). The ultraviolet light source (41) is disposed so as to apply the ultraviolet light in the direction crossing a second edge portion (75) that is parallel to the binding portion (71) at a position corresponding to the second edge portion (75). The illumination light source (15) includes an infrared light source (21) and a white light source (31). Thus, the booklet reading device is provided, which is provided with the illumination light source and the ultraviolet light source and achieves a reduction in the size thereof while image capturing under the specular reflection condition when the deformation of the booklet occurs is avoided.
