Abstract:
A power converter smoothing capacitor in a configuration provided with a boost converter and a power converter between a DC power source and an electrical load is made to be of lower-capacity without requiring an increase in breakdown voltage. A boost converter control device (100) for controlling a motor drive system provided with a boost converter for boosting the DC voltage of the DC power source and supplying the same to the power converter, and positioned between a power converter and a DC power source, is equipped with: a proportional control element, an integral control element, and a derivative control element, with the derivative control element configured as a band-pass filter; a computing means for computing a PID control amount for keeping the output voltage of the boost converter at a command of the voltage (VH) between the terminals of the smoothing capacitor, and corresponding to the electric current command of the boost converter; and a control means for controlling the output voltage of the boost converter on the basis of the computed PID control amount.
