A bottom-drying sludge drying device (1), comprising a casing; the casing is provided with a curved partition plate (4) therein to divide the casing into a first drying chamber (6a) and a second drying chamber (6b); a communication opening (5) is formed on the curved partition plate (4); a bridge piece (401) is provided above the communication opening (5), and a side opening (402) is formed between the bridge piece (401) and the curved partition plate (4); a feeding port (8) and an air outlet (10) are provided at an upper portion of the first drying chamber (6a); a discharging port (9) is provided on a circumferential wall of the first drying chamber (6a); an air inlet (15) is provided on a side wall of the second drying chamber (6b); a sludge stirring device (7a, 7b) is provided in the first drying chamber (6a), and comprises a rotating shaft (701a, 701b) and a stirring assembly (702a, 702b) fixed on the rotating shaft (701a, 701b); and a returning device conveys sludge in the second drying chamber (6b) to the first drying chamber (6a). Also provided is a method for drying the sludge by using the sludge drying device (1).
