Abstract:
A bowling pin setting system (10) with a reconfigurable array (12) of bowling pin retention mechanisms (24) with a contracted configuration with two rows of five pin retention mechanisms (24) and an expanded configuration wherein the pin retention mechanisms (24) are disposed in an equilateral triangle. The array (12) of pin retention mechanisms (24) can be movable, such as by operation of a gantry (15) or pivotable arms (30), between a pin setting position above a pin deck (16) and a retracted position removed from above the pin deck (16). A bowling pin assembly and loading system with a pivoting magazine (78) and at least one pin loading magazine (84) can receive bowling pins (100) from the pin deck (16), assemble the pins (100) into an organized format, and load them into the array (12) of pin retention mechanisms (24).
