Abstract:
A braided embolization apparatus (20) comprises a plurality of individual strands (22) are braided together as an embolic braid (24) having a proximal end (26) and an opposing distal end (32). The embolic braid (24) forms an elongated primary shape capable of being inserted into a catheter. During use of the apparatus (20), upon the distal end (32) of the embolic braid (24) subsequently exiting the catheter (30), the embolic braid (24) is configured for moving into a shape memorized secondary shape capable of filling a target area of a patient's vascular system.
