Abstract:
Provided is a brake device with which the feeling of operating a brake can be improved. The brake device is equipped with a stroke simulator which: has a piston which can actuate the inside of a cylinder in the axial direction by using brake fluid supplied from a master cylinder, demarcates the inside of the cylinder into at least a positive pressure chamber and a back pressure chamber, and has a pressure-receiving area, facing the back pressure chamber, which is smaller than a pressure-receiving area facing the positive pressure chamber; and as a result of the actuating of the piston, generates an operation reaction force that accompanies a brake operation by a driver. The brake device is further equipped with: a second oil channel provided between the positive pressure chamber and the master cylinder; a third oil channel that connects the back pressure chamber and a first oil channel; a fourth oil channel that connects the back pressure chamber and a reservoir tank; and a switching unit that switches between the connection of the back pressure chamber and the first oil channel and the connection of the back pressure chamber and the reservoir tank.
