Abstract:
 The present invention enables suitable control of stepped increases in the clamping force of a brake device equipped with an electric parking brake function. A computation circuit (20), a memory (21), motor drive circuits (23), and the like of a parking brake control device (19) constitute a control unit, said control unit also configured to include a stepped-increase control unit that increases, in a stepped manner, the clamping force applied by brake pads (33) to a disc rotor (4). If the start of contact between the disc rotor (4) and the brake pads (33) as a result of power supplied from the parking brake control device (19) to an electric motor (43B) is detected by a current sensor unit (24) through a motor current, the stepped-increase control unit executes a control in accordance with a predetermined processing sequence, wherein the supply of power to the electric motor (43B) is repeatedly started and stopped so as to increase the clamping force in a stepped manner.
