Title:
BRAKE DISC, ESPECIALLY FOR MOTOR VEHICLES
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO1999028646
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to a brake disc (1) consisting of a friction ring (4) and a pot-shaped holding part (2). According to the invention, the friction ring has a skeleton-like lattice base structure (12) in order to reduce its weight and save materials. Said lattice structure (12) results in an interwoven webbed grid which is yielding but also extremely resistant, mechanically and thermally, and which reduces the weight of the brake disc (1) overall. The invention can be applied particularly advantageously to ventilated brake discs (1) since the bearing capacity of the lattice structure enables the thickness of the friction ring (10) to be reduced.
