Abstract:
A brake pad (10) is provided with: a friction material (12) enabling braking of a disk (200), the friction material (12) being provided on the disk (200); and a rear plate (11) bonded on the side of the friction material (12) opposite from the disk (200). The rear plate (11) is characterized in that the thickness of the contact section (111) of the back plate (11) contacting a piston (30) is roughly constant, but greater than the thickness of the edge section of the back plate (11). The rear plate (11) preferably has a gradual-decrease section (112) from the contact section (111) to the edge section in which the thickness decreases gradually. It is thus possible to provide a brake pad capable of adequately and uniformly transmitting to the disk the pressing force of the piston over the entire surface of the friction material, and a caliper device provided with said brake pad.
