This device executes "rear wheel slip suppression control" that controls an electric motor and reduces the braking torque for rear wheels, on the basis of the amount of rear wheel slippage. The device also executes "sudden stop control" that suddenly stops the rotation of the electric motor, on the basis of the amount of front wheel slippage. Sudden stop control is started on the condition that rear wheel slip suppression control has not been executed. "Control that incrementally changes the amount of power supplied to an electric motor to a preset power supply limit value corresponding to an electric motor deceleration direction" can be executed as sudden stop control. As a result, a braking control device for a vehicle can be provided that: generates braking torque for the rear wheels of the vehicle, using the electric motor; and is capable of suppressing excessive slippage of the rear wheels resulting from the effect of electric motor inertia etc., when commencing execution of slip suppression control for the rear wheels.
