Abstract:
Disclosed is a braking device provided with an operation amount detection means (S) for detecting the operation amount of a pedal (3); a plurality of hydraulic pressure paths (17a, 17b) which, through the operation of the pedal (3), establishes connection between a plurality of hydraulic pressure chambers of a master cylinder (M/C) and a plurality of wheel cylinders (4a etc.), said master cylinder being capable of generating hydraulic pressure through the operation of the pedal (3); a hydraulic pressure source (S/C) which is capable of pressurizing the hydraulic pressure paths on the basis of said operation amount; shutoff valves (MCV1, MCV2) which are each disposed in one of the hydraulic pressure paths, and which close in a state of instructions to close, and open in a state of instructions to open; and hydraulic pressure detection means (P1, P2) for detecting hydraulic pressure in such a way that each of the detection means (P1, P2) detects hydraulic pressure in one of the hydraulic pressure paths. In the state of instructions to open, a first mutual diagnosis and a second mutual diagnosis are conducted, said first mutual diagnosis being based on the hydraulic pressure detected by one of the hydraulic pressure detection means and the operation amount detected by the operation amount detection means, and said second mutual diagnosis being based on the hydraulic pressures detected by both of the hydraulic pressure detection means. In the state of instructions to close, a first mutual diagnosis and a second mutual diagnosis are conducted. Failure of one the shutoff valves or one of the hydraulic pressure detection means is detected on the basis of the first mutual diagnoses and the second mutual diagnoses in the state of instructions to open and the state of instructions to close, resulting in a failure source being identified.
