Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a brass-plated steel wire for reinforcing rubber articles, that is capable of improving initial adhesion, heat-resistant adhesiveness, and initial adhesion speed. The present invention is a brass-plated steel wire for reinforcing rubber articles that is characterized by: including on the outermost surface thereof no more than 4.8 at% zinc, at least 0.5 at% phosphorous, and no more than 50 at% oxygen, as measured by XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy); and the atomic volume ratio between copper and zinc in said outermost surface being 1-6.
