Abstract:

Provided is a broken piece detecting sensor which can detect a piece of a material, which is mixed in a fluid and has characteristics of nonmetal, nonmagnetic and nonconductive, such as a ceramic material. The broken piece detecting sensor detects the broken piece mixed in the fluid. The broken piece detecting sensor is provided with two facing flat plates (5, 7); a shifting mechanism (9), which shifts at least one flat plate (7) of the two flat plates (5, 7) in the facing direction and permits the broken piece to be sandwiched between the two flat plates (5, 7); and a measuring/judging means (16). The measuring/judging means (16) detects existence, size or accumulation quantity of the broken pieces by measuring a distance between the two flat plates (5, 7).
