Abstract:
A brushless motor equipped with: a stator having three-phase windings; a rotor having permanent magnets; an inverter that supplies AC current to the three-phase windings by turning on or off multiple switching elements; and a control unit that controls the on or off state of the multiple switching elements by switching an energization pattern between a low-speed energization pattern used for low-speed energization control and a high-speed energization pattern used for high-speed energization control, said energization pattern representing changes in the energization state of each phase of the three-phase windings in accordance with the rotation of the rotor. The control unit switches the energization pattern to the low-speed energization pattern when the rotational speed of the rotor is less than a prescribed threshold value, and switches the energization pattern to the high-speed energization pattern when the rotational speed of the rotor is equal to or greater than the threshold value and a state in which the load on the rotor is within a prescribed range has continued for a prescribed amount of time.
