Description:
SYSTEM FOR INSIDE BUCCAL CAVITY MEDICAL EXAMINATION OF XJNIT CHAIR

Technical Field The present invention relates to a system for intra buccal cavity medical examination of a unit chair, which includes a" camera and a microscope integrally mounted inside the unit chair so as to allow a doctor to observe paradentitis and decayed teeth inside a patient' s buccal cavity and examine cleanness of the buccal cavity.

Background Art Recently, in a buccal cavity examination carried out in a dental clinic, it is generalized to capture a patient's teeth condition into a moving picture or an image using an oral camera and to consult and treat the patient' s buccal cavity state using the captured image. Furthermore, an oral cleanness is taken as great importance since it was known that bacteria inside the buccal cavity is one of causes raising general disorders, and an oral care such as prevention of causative bacilli of paradentitis or tooth-decay. In relation with a treatment of paradentitis or the preventive medicine, it is known that an important dental treatment method is to control bacteria inside the buccal cavity and a focus while observing causative bacilli with a doctor's eyes through a microscope. For the medical treatment of oral diseases, since such microscope has been utilized in various fields such as a treatment plan of a periodontal disease and a preventive dental surgery while the patient or the doctor directly checks and examines causative bacilli of the periodontal disease, saliva, dental plaque, bacteria and so on with his or her eyes, the special microscope has been rapidly popularized in lots of countries, for example, Europe, United States and Japan and utilized for the medical treatment of the periodontal disease and in the preventive dental surgery field in various ways . As described above, the oral camera and microscope for examination of the intra buccal cavity make the patient easily understand a necessity of dental treatment through a vivid image, so that the oral camera and the microscope are utilized usefully as instruments for dental treatment because they may help the patient' s understanding and induce a motive in determination of the medical treatment. The oral camera is used as a separate camera device or mounted inside a unit chair system like various dental treatment instruments such as a handpiece. The special microscope for examining oral bacilli is installed at a separate place, extracts and examines a sample of the buccal cavity, the examined image is shown to the patient, and then, the medical treatment and consultation are progressed. Therefore, for the dental treatment, the doctor has to extract the sample for examination of bacteria inside the buccal cavity, bring the sample to the microscope, capture an image of the bacteria inside the buccal cavity, and show the captured image to the patient. As a result, the conventional oral camera and the microscope need additional installation places in a small consultation room, give inconvenience in medical treatment, deteriorate rapidness in medical treatment, and are hard to obtain the patient's understanding on the spot.

The microscope 300 includes the CCD module 310 having a lens part located on a glass plate, an LED for emitting back light under the glass plate, and user key input means for manipulation of the microscope. Furthermore, the oral camera 400 includes the CCD module 410 for capturing the intra buccal cavity, lighting means (LED) , and user key input means for manipulation of the camera. The oral camera 400 may be mounted on the tool holder 210 for holding various tools (handpieces) such as a cutting tool for the medical treatment, or may be fixed on a mounting part positioned at another place excepting the tool holder 210 . The control table 200 has the control device therein for controlling the height of the chair and activation of the tools such as the cutting tool for the dental treatment. The camera image-processing device 500 for receiving and processing the signals outputted from the CCD modules 310 and 410 of the microscope 300 and the oral camera 400 and displaying the signals on the monitor 600 is embedded in the control table 200. The camera image-processing device 500 may be in the form of a board or a module. The power supply for supplying electric power from the .commercial power source of AC 220V is embedded in the control table 200. The camera image-processing device 500 may receive electric power from the power supply disposed inside the control table 200 or, like this embodiment, may have a power supply 560 therein for using electric power. The control table 200 is designed in such a way that the data cables for receiving data captured from the CCD module 310 of the microscope 300 and the CCD module 410 of the oral camera 400 are connected from their own positions to the camera image-processing device 500 mounted inside i the control table 200. So, the oral camera 400 can be connected by wireless without cables. The doctor can easily capture the intra buccal cavity by the wireless oral camera 400. The image switch 700 of the image-processing device '500 is exposed to the outside of the control table 200, so that the image of the microscope 300 or the oral camera 400 can be easily displayed on the monitor 600 by user' s manipulation. Moreover, the control table 200 is designed in such a way that the communication port 551 of the camera image- processing device 500 is exposed to the outside to connect the monitor 600 with the data communication cable. For beautiful appearance, it is preferable that the communication port 551 is located on the rear surface of the control table 200 without exposure to the front surface of the control table 200. The communication port 551 comes up to a standard of the communication interface part 550 of the camera image- processing device 500, and may consist of a serial communication RS232C or a USB communication interface. Of course, both of the serial communication and USB communication interface must have a communication standard applicable to the monitor 600. The operation process of the intra buccal cavity examination system of the unit chair will be described as follows . The doctor selects the image switch 700 disposed on the control table 200 so as to display the image captured by the oral camera 400 or the microscope 500 on the monitor 600. When the doctor selects the image switch 700, the switching control part 510 selects and outputs the image signal captured by the CCD module 410 of the oral camera 400 or the CCD module 310 of the microscope 300. The signal outputted from the switching control part 510 is converted into the digitally processable signal through the preprocessing part 520 and outputted to the DSP 530. The digital signal processing part 530 processes the image signal inputted through the preprocessing part 520 into the digital signal and converts and outputs the digital signal into the signal which is displayable on the monitor 600. The communication interface part 550 outputs the image signal inputted from the digital signal processing part 530 to the monitor 600 connected to the communication port 551 to display the image. At this time, the image may be a still image or a moving picture image according to the doctor' s manipulation of the user key input means of the oral camera 400 or the microscope 300. In another embodiment of the present invention, the communication interface part 550 of the camera image- processing device 500' is connected to a PC so that the image is displayed on a PC monitor, and the image can be stored in and outputted from the PC. Additionally, the communication interface part 500 may have one or more communication ports 551 so as to allow both of the monitor 600 and the PC to output the image, so that the doctor can consult and treat using the monitor 600 and store and output the image using the PC. As a result, the doctor can easily capture the patient' s buccal cavity and examine bacteria inside the patient's buccal cavity using the unit chair.
