[Problem] To provide a buckle having excellent design. [Solution] A buckle for a belt has a socket member and a plug member, which engage with each other. The buckle (10) is configured in such a manner that the socket member comprises: a front face section (25) which has a substantially flat front surface; a back face section (26) which is provided so as to face the back surface of the front face section (25) and which forms an engagement hole (21) between the back face section (26) and the front face section (25), the engagement hole (21) allowing the plug member to be engaged therewith; a pressing section (28) which is defined in the front face section (25) by a slit (31) formed in the front face section (25) and which is pressed in order to release the engagement of the plug member inserted in the engagement hole (21) and engaged therewith; and a hinge section (29) which is formed so as to be thinner than the pressing section (28), connects to the pressing section (28) so as to be flush with the front surface of the front face section (25), and serves as the base point of displacement of the pressing section (28) when the pressing section (28) is pressed.
