Abstract:
A built-in antenna capable of expanding the bandwidth available for transmission and reception of radio waves and increasing the wavelength shortening ratio of transmitted and received radio waves. Instead of being formed with a planar shape that is flush with the surface of a substrate, as is conventional, an antenna element (13) is formed with a three-dimensional shape along the surface of element trenches (14) provided in a substrate (11) so as to be recessed from the surface of the substrate (11), thereby increasing the wavelength shortening ratio of transmitted and received radio waves. The three-dimensionally formed antenna element (13) has a greater surface area than conventional planar antenna elements, and consequently the bandwidth available for transmission and reception is expanded, and gain is significantly improved.
