Abstract:
A bumper absorber (20) for pedestrian protection, wherein the cross sectional shape thereof as viewed from a direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction thereof is formed in a W-shape having the portions of a front cutout part (22), an upper rear cutout part (24), and a lower rear cutout part (26) overlapped with each other in the vertical direction of a vehicle, ribs (30) are formed in the upper rear cutout part (24) and the lower rear cutout part (26) at a specified interval in the longitudinal direction thereof, i.e., in the lateral direction of the vehicle, and triangular cutouts (32) are formed in the ribs (30) from the rear side of the vehicle, whereby the rise of an impact load acting on a pedestrian collided with a bumper can be suppressed.
