Title:
BURNER DESIGN FOR PULVERIZED COAL-FIRED BOILERS USING MINIMAL IGNITION FUEL
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2016/179909
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A system and accompanying method for burners (101,201,304) for pulverized coal-fired boiler (301) without the need to preheat the boiler (301) in order to generate a stable flame from pulverized coal is provided. Secondary air streams (2°) are introduced within the burners (101,201,304) in a significantly opposite direction to the primary air/coal streams (1°) causing a reflux effect which allows for the partial combustion and preheating of the coal fuel prior to exiting the burner nozzle. A tertiary air stream (3°) is introduced within the burner (101,201) or a furnace chamber (302) so as to allow for the complete combustion of the coal. It lowers the cost of operating the boiler (301) and, due to the simplicity of the design modifications, can be rapidly implemented at low cost.
