Title:
BURSTING DISC AND BURSTING MEMBRANE FOR THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2000/049318
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention pertains to the field of valve construction and to that of devices for duct valves, and essentially relates to safety valves comprising a bursting member for use in sublayer fire-extinguishing systems in tanks containing easily flammable liquids such as crude oil. The purpose of this invention is to provide a bursting disc which is capable of reliable operation upon a minimal drop in the pressures of the working mixtures, which is capable of opening a maximal surface area in the flow section of the duct when in the operational position, and which is also capable of reliably closing the section of the tube when returning to its initial position. To the end, the bursting disc, together with the prototype, includes a ring-shaped body having a predetermined recess formed in its end surface. The recess has a damper mounted therein which is capable of exiting said recess in one direction under the action of the pressure drop in the working mixtures on both sides of said damper. A bursting membrane connected to the ring and to the damper is used for hermetically isolating the working mixtures from each other when in the initial position. Unlike the prototype, the bursting disc also includes a blade with an inner edge that cuts the membrane upon displacement of the damper. The blade has semi-axes which are offset relative to the symmetry axis and which extend into corresponding grooves formed in the body. The bottom of the recess in the ring extends from one groove to the other along the smallest generatrix of the inner portion of the ring surface.
