A weld joint comprises: a pair of steel plates; first weld metal which is formed in the butt portion between the pair of steel plates so as to extend from a first surface of the pair of steel plates to a second surface thereof on the reverse side of the first surface, and which is formed by applying a first high-energy density beam from the first surface side of the pair of steel plates; and second weld metal which covers an end surface of the first weld metal, said end surface being located on the first surface side, and which is formed by applying a second high-energy-density beam. The width (W1) of the first weld metal at the first surface and the width (W2) of the second weld metal at the first surface satisfy the following formula (1), and the depth of the second weld metal from the first surface is in the range of 2.0 to 10.0 mm. 1.2 ≤ W2/W1 ≤ 3.5 ...
