Abstract:
Provided are a butterfly valve and an exhaust gas recirculation valve with which sealing performance and durability can be improved, a low output motor can be used, and the size can be reduced. The butterfly valve (1) is equipped with: housing (2) provided with a fluid passage; a valve shaft (3) axially supported in the housing (2) and penetrating the fluid passage (4); a rotating disc-shaped valve (5) arranged inside the fluid passage (4) and secured to the valve shaft (3); an annular valve seat (7) arranged inside the fluid passage (4) and forming a protruding step; and a valve seal (6) comprising an elastic body that is formed at the peripheral edge of the valve (5), and that locks the fluid passage (4) when in contact with the valve seat (7). An annular cavity (8) opening toward the upstream side of the fluid is formed in the elastic body valve seal (6), and an arc-shaped lip section (9) is provided such that the outer circumferential cross section of the cavity (8) is arc-shaped.
