Abstract:
A button attaching method, a button attaching system, and a button attaching upper die (10, 50), configured in such a manner that, when a shaft section (22) of a button attaching member (20) penetrates through cloth (1), the shaft section (22) does not catch and pull threads (2, 3) forming the cloth (1) and that the method, the system, and the upper die can utilize the button attaching member (20) having the solid shaft section (22). To attach a button (40, 60) to the cloth (1), the button attaching member (20) provided with the solid flat shaft section (22) having a flat tip (23); a rod-like pin member (12, 52) having a pointed tip (12', 52'); and the upper die (10, 50) including a punch (13, 53) surrounding the pin member (12, 52) are used. The button (40, 60) is disposed above the horizontally placed cloth (1), and the button attaching member (20) is placed below the cloth (1). The upper die (10, 50) is lowered until the button (40, 60) makes contact with the upper surface (1a) of the cloth (1) and the tip (23) of the shaft section (22) of the button attaching member (20) makes contact with the lower surface (1b). Then, with the tip (23) of the shaft section (22) of the button attaching member (20) in contact with the lower surface (1b) of the cloth (1), the tip (12', 52') of the pin member (12, 52) is lowered until the tip (12', 52') butts against the tip (23) of the shaft section (22), to thereby form a pilot hole (4) in the cloth (1).
After that, the shaft section (22) of the button attaching member (20) is penetrated through the cloth (1) along the pilot hole (4), passed through an attaching opening (44, 64) in the button (40, 60), and after that the shaft section (22) is staked by the pin member (12, 52) and a punch (13, 53).
