Provided is a button back in which a button can have a smooth, completely-round surface, a shell cap is less likely to turn, and an umbrella part is less likely to deform. This button back (10) is made of metal and is provided with: a cylindrical part (11); and an umbrella part (20) which extends radially outside from one axial end of the cylindrical part (11). The umbrella part (20) extending radially outside from the one axial end of the cylindrical part (11) includes a first bending part (23) which bends toward the opposite side of the cylindrical part (11). The outer periphery including the radially outside end of the first bending part (23) has, in a polygonal shape: three or more corner parts (24a); and side parts (24b) which each extend between two corner parts (24a) adjacent to each other in the circumferential direction. The umbrella part (20) includes a flat plate part (25) which extends radially outside from the radially outside end of the first bending part (23) corresponding to the side parts (24b).
