Abstract:
Disclosed is a button surface member forming method in which an imprint (13, 73) can be made clearly without warping relative to the circumference (12, 72) of the button surface member (10, 70). When forming a shallow metal circular-cup-shaped button surface member (10, 70) having a disk portion (11, 71) and an annular circumference portion (12, 72) extending from the edge of the disk portion (11, 71) in the axis direction, a ridge portion (10', 10", 70') having a disk area (11', 11", 71') and a circumference area (12', 12", 72'), which correspond to the disk portion (11, 71) and circumference portion (12, 72) of the aforementioned button surface member (10, 70), is extracted from a metal plate (1, 2), and letters or patterns are imprinted on the circumference area (12', 12", 72') of the aforementioned ridge portion (10', 10", 70'). After or before said imprinting, the aforementioned ridge portion (10', 10", 70') is cut away from the metal plate (1, 2). The imprint (13) on the circumference area (12', 12") of the ridge portion (10', 10") is provided by forming a depression (13a) by applying to the circumference area (12', 12") from the radially outward direction an outer die (30) having a convex portion (32, 32', 32"), and by simultaneously forming a protruding portion (13b) by applying from the radially inward direction an inner die (40) having a concave portion (42, 42', 42").
