Abstract:
The present invention relates to agents that bind and/or inhibit classical complement C 1 subcomponent, Clq, as well as methods of their use. In particular, the invention relates to methods for inhibiting classical complement activation by contacting a Clq molecule with a C 1 q inhibitor. The invention, therefore, also relates to methods for treating disorders using the Clq inhibitors described herein. More specifically, the Clq inhibitors provided can be used to treat any condition mediated by the classical complement system. More specifically, the Clq inhibitors can be used to treat inflammatory conditions and the resulting tissue injury, autoimmune disorders and cancer.
