A camera drive device comprises: a camera section (100); a stationary unit provided with a protrusion section (202) having at least a part thereof consisting of a magnetic body and having a shape of at least a part of a spherical surface; a movable unit for supporting the camera section, the movable unit being provided with an attraction magnet (404) which generates a magnetic attraction force acting on the magnetic body, and also with a conical contact surface with which the protrusion section of the stationary unit is made to loosely fit and contact by the magnetic attraction force, the movable unit freely pivoting relative to the center of the spherical surface of the protrusion section; a panning drive section; a tilting drive section; a rolling drive section for rotating the camera section in the rolling direction in which the camera section rotates about the optical axis of a lens; a detector for detecting both the rotational angle of the camera section in the rolling direction and the tilt angle of the camera section in the panning and tilting direction relative to the stationary unit; and a retaining member (201) affixed to the stationary unit and having a come-out prevention/restriction section which is disposed with a predetermined gap formed relative to the movable unit in the optical axis direction.
