Abstract:
This invention provides a camera system, a camera body, and a communication method that make it possible for lens information that is needed for image processing or the like performed on video frames to be acquired from an interchangeable lens in a suitable manner. When in a video-recording mode, three-wire serial communication is performed in which, synchronized on a synchronization signal (VSYNC) from an imaging element, a request signal is transmitted to the interchangeable lens and a response signal from said interchangeable lens is received. In the communication mode used when in the aforementioned video-recording mode, the number of times to transmit first request signals regarding the acquisition of lens information such as focal position, aperture value, and zoom position is limited. This makes it possible to perform, within a single frame period, communication other than communication regarding the acquisition of lens information.
