Abstract:
A camera according to the present invention is provided with: an imaging unit for capturing a subject image through use of an optical system having a focus adjusting optical system and outputting a signal; a detection unit for detecting, on the basis of the signal outputted from the imaging unit, the focal position at which the subject image is focused on the imaging unit by the optical system; a control unit for controlling, on the basis of the focal position detected by the detection unit, the position of the focus adjusting optical system so as to continue to focus on a specific subject; and an acquiring unit for acquiring information relating to at least one of the distance to the specific subject, the size of the specific subject, and the optical system; the control unit controlling the position of the focus adjusting optical system on the basis of the information acquired by the acquiring unit.
