Abstract:
The present invention provides an irregularly-shaped can by reducing the diameter of the body of a can, which is formed from a metal material, all the way to the vicinity of the bottom of the can. A can body diameter reduction device for reducing the diameter of the body of a bottomed cylindrical can of which one end is opened, the device being provided with: a can holder which holds the bottom part of the can and has a base pad that comes into contact with the bottom part of the can, and a first roughly-cylindrical restriction ring that restricts the bottom part of the outer circumferential surface of the body of the can and that can move forward or backward in the can axial direction relative to the base pad; a diameter reduction die having a die for reducing the diameter of the body of the can by moving forward or backward in the can axial direction relative to the can holder; and a first restriction ring moving mechanism for moving the first restriction ring backward in the can axial direction when the die moves forward.
