Abstract:
Provided is a cancer risk evaluation method which makes it possible to estimate, with high accuracy, a subject's risk of developing cancer, is not affected by drawbacks such as rapid amino acid degeneration and high costs that accompany methods using amino acid concentrations in blood, and can also estimate the site of origin of the cancer. This method includes: a step S1 for measuring the concentration of an evaluation-use element group in a blood serum sample 2 collected from a subject; a step S2 for performing computation by applying the measured element group concentration data and age data for the subject to a discriminant function for identifying whether the subject belongs to a control group or a case group; and a step S3 for obtaining, on the basis of correlation among the evaluation-use element group obtained in step S2, an indicator for whether the subject is afflicted by any type of cancer. A combination of the 17 elements Na, Mg, P, S, K, Ca, Fe, Cu, Zn, Se, Rb, Sr, As, Mo, Cs, Co, and Ag is used as the evaluation-use element group.
