Abstract:
A cap that, in combination with the casing of a helical LSD that is capable of rotating around a shaft, is for locking differential motion is provided with: a clutch member, which is able to link with one of the sun gears of the helical LSD and is provided with clutch teeth; a clutch ring provided with a ring part with clutch teeth for engaging with the clutch member and at least one tab that is integrated with the ring part and protrudes radially outward from the ring part; a cap body to be fixed to an end of the casing in the shaft direction and comprising a first surface that contacts the casing and a second surface facing the opposite shaft direction from the first surface; a cap body recess that is recessed from the first surface toward the second surface, has dimensions so as to movably accept the clutch ring in the shaft direction, and is provided with at least one docking part for accepting a respective tab; openings that open to the second surface, are in communication with one of the docking parts, and allow access to the tabs; circumferentially-facing side surfaces of the tabs that are sloped toward the second surface; inner surfaces of the docking parts that are sloped toward the first surface in order to contact the side surfaces in the circumferential direction and press the clutch ring toward the clutch member in the shaft direction; and at least one base section with a shape that adheres closely in the shaft direction to the casing continuously between the docking parts.
