Abstract:
A captive nut assembly (10) that allows removal of one or more workpieces and/or provides access to an area between a plurality of workpieces is provided. The captive nut assembly (10) includes a screw (14) with an elongated shank (18) that is adapted to be located in an opening (20) of one or more workpieces and terminates at one end in an enlarged head (30). The shank (18) has a threaded portion (24) adapted to be secured to another workpiece (28). The captive nut assembly (10) also includes a captive nut (12) that is rotatably mounted on the threaded portion (24) of the screw (14) and moveable along the shank (18) of the screw (14) with the head (30) of the screw (14) being located within the bore (34) of the captive nut (12).
