Abstract:
Silicon-containing carbide fibers with high strength and high modulus of elasticity and a polymer composition used for their production are disclosed. The fibers are extremely useful as reinforcing fibers for composite materials containing plastic, carbon or metal as a matrix and are less expensive. The polymer composition is useful as a matrix for the above-described composite material in addition to the use as a starting material for the fibers.
