Abstract:
Provided are a carbon dioxide gas neutralization treatment system and a carbon dioxide gas neutralization treatment method that are capable of directly reducing carbon dioxide on a large scale in an economical way. The carbon dioxide gas neutralization treatment system according to the present invention comprises an electrolysis unit, a carbon dioxide treatment unit, an acidic solution neutralization unit and a discharge unit. The electrolysis unit comprises an electrolytic solution, a cathode electrode, an anode electrode and a diaphragm, wherein the electrolytic solution is an aqueous solution containing sodium chloride. In the electrolysis unit, the electrolytic solution is electrolyzed. Thus, a basic first aqueous solution is generated on the cathode side of the electrolysis unit and an acidic second aqueous solution is generated on the anode side of the electrolysis unit. The carbon dioxide gas neutralization treatment system according to the present invention is characterized in that the specific energy consumption of the carbon dioxide absorption therein is at least greater than the specific energy consumption of the carbon dioxide discharge of a power generation system for the electricity used in the electrolysis unit.
