Abstract:
Disclosed is a catalyst for carbon fiber production, which enables to efficiently produce a carbon fiber with less impurities. Also disclosed is a carbon fiber exhibiting high electrical conductivity and high thermal conductivity, while having excellent dispersibility as filler into resins or the like. Specifically disclosed is a carbon fiber containing at least one element [I] selected from the group consisting of Fe, Co and Ni; at least one element [II] selected from the group consisting of Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Cu, Y, Zr, Nb, Tc, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag, lanthanoids, Hf, Ta, Re, Os, Ir, Pt and Au; and at least one element [III] selected from the group consisting of W and Mo. In this carbon fiber, the amounts of the element [II] and the element [III] are respectively 1-100% by mole relative to the element [I].
