Title:
CARBON FIBER FABRIC SEPARATOR PLATE FOR FUEL CELL AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2013/172629
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed are a carbon fiber fabric separator plate for a fuel cell and a manufacturing method thereof for manufacturing a separator plate of a fuel cell using carbon fiber fabrics. The separator plate of the present invention includes: at least two or more carbon fiber fabrics comprising and layered with carbon fibers; and a polymer matrix coated between the two or more of carbon fiber fabrics to expose carbon fibers on the surface of the two or more of carbon fiber fabrics. The manufacturing method of the present invention comprises the steps of: molding carbon fiber fabrics including the polymer matrix into a separator plate preform by using compaction and hardening through hot pressing; and trimming the separator plate preform into a separator plate. Additionally, the polymer matrix can be embedded into the carbon fiber fabrics by resin injection or resin transfer molding. A metal strip can be bonded to one surface of the carbon fiber fabrics, or conductive metal powder can be mixed into the polymer matrix to enhance electrical conductivity. A surplus polymer matrix on a surface of the separator plate preform is carbonized through flame or plasma.
