Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a carbon fiber nonwoven fabric which has exceptional electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity as an electrode base material for a solid polymer fuel cell, and which is moreover useful as a base material having excellent gas diffusion and drainage. The present invention provides a carbon fiber nonwoven fabric on the surface of which are formed in distributed fashion a plurality of non-penetrating holes having opening planar dimensions larger than the average hole planar dimensions of the carbon fiber nonwoven fabric, wherein broken fibers are not observed at the peripheral edges of the non-penetrating holes in plan view.
