Abstract:
A carbon isotope analysis device 1 is provided with the following: a carbon dioxide isotope generation device 40 provided with a combustion unit for generating a gas including carbon dioxide isotopes, from carbon isotopes, and a carbon dioxide isotope purification unit; a spectroscopic device 10 provided with an optical resonator 11 having one pair of mirrors and an optical detector 15 for detecting the intensity of transmission light from the optical resonator 11; and a light generation device 20 provided with one light source 23, a first optical fiber 21 for transmitting the light from the light source, a second optical fiber 22 for wavelength conversion that branches from the first optical fiber 21 and that merges at a merge point on the downstream side of the first optical fiber 21, and a non-linear optical crystal 25 that allows a plurality of light beams having different frequencies to pass, and due to such frequency differences, generates light of a wavelength that absorbs carbon dioxide isotopes. The carbon isotope analysis device 1 is simple, easy to use, and can also analyze carbon 14.
