Abstract:
This method for more efficiently producing a carbon nanotube forest by a solid-state catalytic method involves: a catalyst placement step in which a liquid composition containing a metal element-containing compound is atomized to a mist, the mist of the obtained liquid composition is supplied inside of a reaction chamber heated to a prescribed temperature, a metal-based solid-state catalyst is generated inside the reaction chamber from the metal element-containing compound contained in the mist of the liquid composition, and the metal-based solid-state catalyst is arranged on a growth base surface of a substrate positioned inside of the reaction chamber; and a growth step in which a carbon source is supplied in the reaction chamber, and carbon nanotubes are grown from the metal-based solid-state catalyst on the growth base surface to form a carbon nanotube forest on the substrate.
