Abstract:
Provided are: a group 10 metal complex having a carboxylate structure represented by general formula (C2); a catalyst for olefin polymerization that has the complex as a principal component; and a method for producing a polymer characterized in that using the catalyst, olefin represented by general formula (1) is homopolymerized or two or more types of olefin are combined and polymerized, or olefin represented by general formula (1) and olefin that contains a polar group and is represented by general formula (2) are copolymerized (the meaning of the symbols in the formulas are as set forth in the description). The group 10 metal complex, in which all ligand atoms are heteroatoms, is stable and useful as a catalytic component for olefin polymerization, and can be used for a long time in homopolymerization of olefin or in copolymerization of two or more types of olefin.
