Abstract:
The structure of a card gate mechanism in a card reader, e.g. an ATM (automatic teller's machine). In order to constitute the gate port (3) of a card gate mechanism (1), gate frames (4a, 4b) made of a light transmitting material and provided with an enlarged part (5) for introducing the card (2) to a card carrying passage (14) is provided at least on one face side of the card (2). Furthermore, a light source section (6) for irradiating the gate frames (4a, 4b) with light is provided and the enlarged part (5) is irradiated with light from the light source section (6) and illuminated. Variation of elements can be relaxed by constituting a part of the gate frames (4a, 4b) of a lens part (9) thereby controlling the irradiating direction of light.
