Embodiments of the present application provide a cargo management system for a rail train, comprising N electronic tags, a reader, and a control host communicatively connected to the reader. The electronic tags are used for mounting on the outer side of a container in a one-to-one correspondence manner. Tag information of each electronic tag is unique identification information of the container. The reader is used for mounting at a door of a rail train compartment so as to read the tag information of the electronic tags when the container passes by, and sending the tag information of the electronic tags to the control host. The control host is used for determining that a container corresponding to a K-th electronic tag is actually loaded into the rail train when receiving tag information of the K-th electronic tag for the first time. N is a positive integer greater than or equal to 1. K is one or more of 1 to N. The embodiments of the present application solve the technical problems of high dependence on labor and low automation degree of the traditional rail train on the cargo management.
