Description:
Carrier device

The present invention is for a carrying device for individual personal brought along equipment comprising small objects, as for example mobile telephones. The objective of the invention is to enable the equipment to be brought along easily accessible and protected against being struck or thrust or exposed to other outer effects.

There is often a need to bring along equipment of the kind mentioned above in connection with various work tasks. Many jobs bring with them a continuous mobility as is the case by building and forest work. It is then valuable to be accessible for example by a telephone or an individual finder and to be able to bring along additional equipment such as a calculator, note book, pencil and other things. In certain situations it may also be desirable to be able to bring personal belongings, such as money, credit cards and other, and that equipment and belongings besides being accessible and protected against mechanical action also are protected e.g. against theft.

Various kinds of carrying devices for brought along equipment are known in prior art. In its most simple embodiment these are just a clamp attached to the equipment which is intended to be fastened by means of the clamp to a piece of clothing, preferably a waistbelt or the upper edge of trousers. Also known are carrying pockets or holsters of different designs which as a rule are adapted to a specific apparatus or equipment. In most cases these devices take the shape of a pocket made from plastic or leather and having means for being attached to a waistbelt. These known devices thus as a rule mean that the brought along equipment is positioned at the height of the hip of a person and as rule on the outisde of the body. In this position the equipment is much exposed to outer effects, especially if the person carrying it makes different kinds of movements. Other disadvantages occur for example in a sitting position, as for drivers of certain machines, when the

chairs often encircle part of the body and a device carried on the hip is a great hindrance.

The present invention is for a device which makes it possible to bring along certain equipment in a comfortable and easily acceptable way without the abovementioned disadvantages. The equipment which is brought along will thus be in a protected position on the body, where it is not a hindrance or discomfort for the person carrying it. The equipment is brought along in a pocket which is positioned protected and easily accessible under the arm adjacent and in front of one armpit of the person carrying it. The device is characterized by those significant properties which are mentioned in claim 1.

A carrying device according to the invention will below be described more in detail with reference to the embodiments shown in the enclosed figures.

Figure 1 shows a device according to the invention having one pocket.

Figure 2 shows a device according to the invention having two pockets.

Figure 3 outlines how a device according to figure 1 is carried on the front side of a person.

Figure 4 shows the back of a person who carries a device according to figure 2.

Figure 5 shows part of a device according to the invention of a further embodiment.

The device shown in figure 1 comprises a pocket 1 having a bottom plate 12 which is somewhat larger than the rest of the pocket. The pocket is suitably entirely made from plastic or leather but the vertical short sides may also be made from an

elastic material. In the pocket there are fastening points 2, 3, 4 for straps 5, 6, 7. When the carrying device is being used it is carried with the upper strap 5 across the shoulder of the person and side strap 6 along the side of the body under the armpit. Suitably the two straps are joined at the back of the person and preferably they are made in one piece as a common strap 8. In the lower fastening point 4 there is a further strap 7 which is intended to be attached to a piece of clothing, e.g. around a waistbelt or onto a waiststrap. The straps can be made from different materials and are adapted to the objects or the equipment which is to be brought along. For light weight equipment the two upper straps 5, 6 are suitably made from elastic. The lower strap 7 which is not loaded by the weight of the equipment may be made either from elastic or e.g. from the same material as the pocket.

The embodiment of the invention shown in figure 2 comprises two pockets 1, 9 with appurtenant straps 5, 6, 7, 5A, 6A, 7A. The upper straps 5, 5A, 6, 6A are joined to each other at a common fastening plate 10 which is intended to be positioned in the middle of the back of the person. In this as well as in other embodiments the length of at least the two upper straps for each pocket can be adjusted to the wishes of the individual person. The two pockets of the device according to figure 1 can be made so that one is for example intended for a mobile telephone while the other one is intended for note book and pencil. The pockets may also comprise other devices not shown in the figures to bring on the back of them money, credit cards and the like. By the embodiment with two pockets one may also make use of a further strap which connects the two pockets and runs horizontally across the chest of the person.

Figures 3 and 4 schematically show how the devices according to figures 1 and 2 are carried by a person. In figure 3 which shows the front side of a person, one can also see how the lower strap 7 is fastened around the waistbelt. Figure 4 which shows the back of the person carrying the device shows the

position of the common fastening plate 10. The device having two pockets can also be so designed that the upper strap 5, 5A of one pocket is common with the side strap 6, 6A of the other pocket. The straps then cross each other and are joined to each other in a suitable way at the joining position 10.

Another embodiment of the invention is shown in figure 5. In this embodiment the pocket 1 also comprises an elastic bottom plate 11 which extends between the two upper straps 5, 6. This embodiment may make the adaption to persons of different body sizes more easy and give pliability to the body of the person carrying the device.

The examples described above are not limiting for the invention and within the frame of the inventive idea further variations are possible as to the arrangement of fastening points, choice of material for straps and pockets and other details.
