Disclosed are a cash box and a cash deposit and withdrawal machine. The cash box comprises a housing (1) and a cash pressing mechanism (3). The cash pressing mechanism (3) comprises a cash pressing plate (31), a cash pressing electric motor (32), a clutch (4) and a transmission mechanism (33), wherein the housing (1) is provided with a slot (20) for cash to enter and exit; the transmission mechanism (33) is in transmission connection with the cash pressing plate (31); the clutch (4) is connected between the cash pressing electric motor (32) and the transmission mechanism (33); and the clutch (4) has a connected state and a disconnected state, and when the clutch device (4) is in the connected state, the cash pressing electric motor (32) is connected to the transmission mechanism (33), and the cash pressing electric motor (32) drives the cash pressing plate (31) to move close to or away from the slot (20) by means of the transmission mechanism (33), and when the clutch (4) is in the disconnected state, the cash pressing electric motor (32) is disconnected from the transmission mechanism (33), and at that moment, the cash pressing plate (31) can be manually moved.
