Abstract:
Disclosed is a catalyst which has functions for both oxygen reduction during the discharge of an air secondary battery and oxygen generation during the charge of the air secondary battery. The catalyst is stable even at high potentials during the charge of the battery.
Specifically, a catalyst which is formed from an oxycarbonitride of a specific transition metal that is selected from among titanium, zirconium, hafnium, vanadium, niobium, tantalum and the like is found to have functions for both oxygen reduction during the discharge of an air secondary battery and oxygen generation during the charge of the air secondary battery, and is also found to be stable even at high potentials during the charge of the air secondary battery.
