Abstract:
A system (9) according to the present invention is a system for detecting deterioration of a catalyst 8 provided in an exhaust gas pathway (12) of an internal-combustion engine (11), and is provided with a means (5) for detecting the temperature of exhaust gas on an upstream side of the catalyst (8), and a means (6) for detecting the temperature of the exhaust gas on the downstream side of the catalyst (8). Both upstream and downstream of the catalyst (8) there are provided: a recognizing unit (10) which recognizes a change point during acceleration at which the temperature changes from a falling temperature or a constant temperature to a rising temperature, and recognizes a change point during deceleration at which the temperature changes from a rising temperature or a constant temperature to a falling temperature; and a determining unit (10) which determines that the catalyst (8) has deteriorated if a difference (ΔT or ΔT') between the upstream and downstream change points is equal to or greater than a prescribed length of time.
